Jon Lord gets bluesy in Germany

December 17, 2010

On April 7 2011, Jon Lord will appear at the 20th Rother Bluestage, a blues festival in the town of Roth near Nürnberg.

Nicknamed the Blusual Suspects, the band will also feature Miller Anderson (guitar, vocals), Maggie Bell (vocals), Zoot Money (keyboards), Colin Hodgkinson (bass) and Pete York (drums). Ticket buyers should expect plenty of Hammond in a set of golden bluesrock classics.

The project has elements of the old Apollo Theatre in Harlem Rhythm and Blues Revues of the early 50s, and the procession of solo singers and instrumentalists keeps it interesting and fascinating.

In 1982, Jon Lord toured Germany with the Rock and Blues Circus featuring himself, Hodgkinson, York, Chris Farlowe and others, while in the UK another line-up  with Farlowe, Brian Auger, Hodgkinson, Spencer Davis and York went out under the name of Blues Reunion. Read the rest of this entry ?
