Durham CD preview updated

Updated: January 12, 2008At the end of January, Jon Lord’s evocative Durham Concerto is released on CD by Avie Records.

The extensive sleeve notes include Jon Lord’s thoughts on the different sections of the concerto as well as presentations of the key musicians.

Durham Concerto: wide-screen and cinematic

On October 20 Jon Lord’s Durham Concerto is premiered by the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Mischa Darmev and with himself on Hammond organ at the Durham Cathedral in England.

On UK’s Classic FM radio, Barry McCann recently talked about the studio recording of Jon Lord’s Durham Concerto.

- Quite simply the most exciting composition I have heard for years. From its opening bars you know this is going to be a major work; wide-screen and cinematic in shape, the Durham Concerto is breathtaking. Deep Purple’s keyboard player should be proud, said Barry McCann.

New Hoochie Coochie album out now

front.jpg‘Danger White Men Dancing’ is the title of the new studio album by The Hoochie Coochie Men featuring Jon Lord. It was released on October 1 through Edel Records. A special ltd. edition version with a DVD is also available.

The 13-track studio album also features Ian Gillan on two tracks and is the second collaboration between Jon Lord and Bob Daisley’s Australian combo The Hoochie Coochie Men.

CD/DVD: Tribute to Jim Capaldi

capaldi_album.jpgIn January 2007 Jon appeared at a tribute show in London, honoring the late Jim Capaldi of Traffic. The show will be released on CD and DVD in August/September.

Jon features on three tracks: “Living on the outside” (with Joe Walsh and Bill Wyman), Let Me Make Something In Your Life (with Stevie Lange) and “Gifts Of Unknown Things” (with Phil Capaldi). More info here.

Jon Lord’s second Australian blues

Titled ‘Danger White Men Dancing’, a 13-track studio album is the second collaboration between Jon Lord and Bob Daisley’s Australian combo The Hoochie Coochie Men. The album should be out within the next two months.

Featuring Hammond and/or piano from Jon Lord on all tracks, the album mixes covers and Hoochie Coochie originals. One track, ‘Over & Over’, credits Jon Lord among its writers.
