One From The Meadow

A note from Paul Mann:
Jon began a full orchestral version of One From The Meadow  in 2008, but seems not to have completed it. Although he wrote all the string parts, he left only the introduction fully orchestrated. I have therefore completed the instrumentation as I can only imagine that Jon himself might have done, keeping to the instruments that his unfinished score shows he intended to use: discreet colourings of wind instruments, harp and very occasional touches of percussion.

Above all, I have kept in mind how careful he always was to avoid the wrong kind of sentimentality in his most overtly emotional songs, of which this is certainly one.

The new introduction has, as far as I know, never been played before.  This completed new version had its premiere at the Jon Lord Celebration concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall on April 4 2014.
