Jon Lord’s Windows album will be reissued on Purple Records in November 2009, reports the DPAS website.
The new reissue has been remastered to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the concert and comes initially as a limited edition digipak with 12 page booklet. It is a single CD.
The album was recorded live in Munich in June 1974 and features Jon Lord with Tony Ashton, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Ray Fenwick and Pete York and Eberhard Schoener.
Windows was issued on vinyl in 1974 and on CD by Purple Records in 1999. It has been unavailable for several years.
DPAS also reports that several Jon Lord CDs on the Fruitgum label are pirates with artwork stolen from Purple Records. Beware.
Thanks to the DPAS.
I bought the album in 1975 when I was 14 and it blew me away. I didn’t realise bij than that Continuo on Bach was the last unfinished fugue from Die Kunst der Fuge. It’s a breathtakingly beautiful arrangement from a breathtakingly beautiful piece of music. Side two also contains gorgeous and sometimes highly adventurous (well for my fourteen year’s ears) sounds. As a teenager Deep Purple was my favourite group but this album catapulted me into the Classical music area. I think it is much better than Concerto for group and orchestra. Thank you Jon Lord for especially this great album and I hope you will recover very soon from this terrible disease. Bert Dobben from Holland
