Jon Lord releases orchestral live album

Jon Lord releases new live album titled simply LIVE. Exclusive teaser available below.

Recorded in Bucharest, Romania in 2009 with a full symphony orchestra, the album includes a glorious selection of orchestral pieces representing Jon Lord’s touring repetoire all over the world in recent years.

From Pictured Within (voted everybody’s no. 1 favourite Jon Lord track on this website) over infectious The Telemann Experiment; the two Sarabande favourites Bouree and Gigue to the female voice delights Wait a While and The Sun Will Shine Again featuring Kasia Łaska.

Steve Balsamo handles male vocals throughout, and the album also includes three completely reworked Deep Purple classics with full orchestral arrangement by Jon Lord; Pictures of Home, Soldier of Fortune and an immense Child in Time.

The Rousse Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Nayden Todorov with Darin Vasilev (guitar), Ivaylo Zvezdomirov (bass) and Venko Poromanski (drums) completing the line-up.

Bulgarian band rejoins Jon Lord for Bucharest Concerto

Jon Lord has confirmed members of Bulgarian band TE for his appearance in Bucharest, Romania on November 5.

From left, Venko Poromanski (drums), Darin Vasilev (guitar) and Ivaylo Zvezdomirov (bass) last appeared with Jon Lord in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on September 1. This collaboration went down so well, the band was invited to join Jon Lord onstage again.

In Bucharest, Steve Balsamo and Kasia Laska will feature on vocals and the Rousse Philharmonic Orchestra is to be conducted by Nayden Todorov.

Romanian Concerto for November

Jon Lord has confirmed his in concert appearance in Bucharest, Romania on November 5, 2009.

At the Palace Hall, he will perform the Concerto for Group and Orchestra and a selection of solo pieces and Deep Purple songs together with Steve Balsamo and Kasia Laska on vocals, band and the Rousse Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Nayden Todorov.
